Five Walgreens stores located at the following addresses will close in November: 2550 Ocean Ave., 4645 Mission Street, 745 Clement Street, 300 Gough Street, 3400 Cesar Chavez Street.

Walgreens said in a statement, “Organized retail crime continues to be a problem faced by retailers throughout San Francisco, and we are not immune. Theft in our San Francisco stores has continued to increase over the past few months and has been five times the average for our network. During this time, to help combat this problem, we’ve increased our investment in store security measures across the city to 46 times the average for our chain to ensure the safest possible environment.”

Walgreens customers who have prescriptions at any of the listed closing stores do not need to take any action, as the prescriptions will be transferred to other stores automatically.
However, according to some publications, police data does not show a high number of reports of thefts at closing stores.
